Bill Groeneveld and Illiana Jones
"Once in a Blue Moon"

Bill Groeneveld: This is the second piece that Bill has contributed to this artshow and his bio was mentioned a little earlier. Illiana Jones has been a practicing artist since 2003. She belongs to and volunteers at Pandora Arts Collective. She has been in countless solo and group shows and did well at Saanich Fair in the summer of 2007 winning 6 ribbons. She is inspired by friends and artists like Picasso.

Experience Making This Piece:
There was lots of laughter during the project between the artists. They had a great time and Illiana says that it is Bill who has the sennse of humour. I am sure that this must have helped their co-operative collaboration. This piece of art illustrates that it is the life in our cities that is causing natural disasters and that our actions will make severe previously unknown changes to our environment and all who live within it.

Tactile Colour Used: Gridded black, raised line pink, soft rubbery red and fine gritty blue

Tactile Description:
All the way along the bottom of the picture is a cityscape of gridded black buildings making a skyline in silhouette against a raised line pink sky. The sky is split in two horizontally with soft rubbery red at the top indicating the doom of an apocalypse. In the top left hand corner of the picture is a huge Blue Moon in the clutches of a birds gridded black claws like they are taking the moon away, which it seems to be snatching up and stealing right out of the sky.
