We are becoming more and more dependent on a mouse to navigate around our desktop. This can be a very good thing,  but it can turn into a desktop ballet of sorts, switching from the mouse to the keyboard and back again to enter site names and then manipulate browser controls. An easy method to overcoming this dilemma is to learn a few simple keyboard commands to navigate around your browser.

Here are the main commands and the browsers that work with them.

Netscape 3,4 and Internet explorer 3 and 4
          TAB                  Move from link to link, down page
          shift+TAB         Move from link to link, up page
          ctrl+home         top of file
          ctrl+end            bottom of file
          alt+left arrow    browser back
          ctrl + d               Add a page to bookmarks or favorites 
          ctrl + b              Open your bookmarks or favorites
          ctrl + n              Open a new window of the browser
          ctrl + w             Close a browser window
          ctrl + r               Reload/Refresh browser window
          ctrl + A              Select all text on browser page
          ctrl + c              Copy
          ctrl + v              Paste
          ctrl + p              Print page
          ctrl + f               Find a web page
          ESC                  Stop a web page from loading
          Shift+ down arrow    select line by line
