This piece has been made with an older set of Tactile Colour.
Michael is a self-taught artist who has been actively painting since 1983. His influences have been every thing from comic books to crime films. Raised in Las Vegas, he tends to see the world around him in sideshow, neon colours, populated mostly by baggy-pants clowns, chorus girls and fat ringmasters with whips.
Experience Making This Piece:
Let me say at the outset, the picture before you would not have existed were it not for the patience and years of experience as a cut and paste artist of my partner Jennifer Whitfield. Due to the unforgiving nature of the materials
(i.e. when they go down, they stay, and there's nothing you can do to rectify the situation) Any artist would be challenged with this medium.
Tactile Colour Used: Rough gritty Green, fine gritty blue, hard bumpy yellow, soft bumpy orange, gridded black and very slightly bumpy tan.
Tactile Description:
Midway down the picture is a fine gritty blue silhouette of a city skyline split by the stylized image of a saxophone player in a rough gritty green suit with hard bumpy yellow shirt and shoes. The saxophone is soft bumpy orange with a hard bumpy yellow bell and is held above his head. At the bottom left-hand corner is an soft bumpy orange cat, and the top right-hand corner houses the sun, while just above the right side of the city soars a lone bird of fine gritty blue.
